With a passion to document forgotten histories, we turn memories into relevant narratives for the reader. This 4-page feature documents the life and times of Malaya’s greatest forgotten legal mind. We pitched the writing brief; conducted interviews and secondary research; obtained all legal copyright sign-offs for reproduction of photos, graphics, quotes; and produced the final writings for this piece.

1606: Nisi Dominus Frustra

May 2015

Commissioned by an internationally-renowned society, this luxurious 300-page limited edition coffee table book was to commemorate their 50th anniversary. Gold-embossed stars signify each year of its existence, whilst we devised the title that pays homage to its Scottish roots with a theme that is reflected throughout the content of the entire book: Nisi Dominus Frustra “Nothing is possible without God.”

In this turnkey project, we created the concept and design; conducted original research and interviews with its members; directed photography and artwork; managed a team of writers, researchers, editors, designers, proofreaders to produce this stunning visual work. The copy and design was developed to evoke the feel of Old Malaya, in line with the company’s unique selling proposition offering rugged Land Rover adventures with tours that veer off the beaten path. Design elements include a 360-degree look inside their Land Rovers.
