Antologi cerpen Tanjong Katong Airnya Biru memuatkan 16 cerpen.

 

Bertolak daripada titik permulaan yang sama, R. Azmann A. Rahman, Djohan A. Rahman, Farihan Bahron dan Mohamed Naguib Ngadnan mencipta nama masing-masing dalam dunia kesusasteraan dan cabang-cabang seni yang lain.

 

Gabungan empat penulis ini menghasilkan karya-karya yang mengangkat tema-tema pembangunan, keluarga, alam sekitar, sejarah dan masyarakat. Cerpen-cerpen ini mewakili suara anak-anak muda di Kota Singa dalam penerokaan sastera, sejarah dan kehidupan.

 

An anthology of 16 short stories penned by four award-winning writers who spent their teenage years along Tanjong Katong Road from 1982 to 1997. The stories showcase a wide spectrum of topics, ranging from environmental concerns to human-interest issues. The writers also contributed a story that reminisced their school days at Tanjong Katong Secondary School. The title also serves as an homage to the popular folk song, "Di Tanjong Katong".

 

About The Authors:

R. Azmann A. Rahman started writing poems in his teenage years. He then explored the world of dikir barat lyrics, short stories and scripts for television. One of his earlier works, "Maafkan Anan" won Second Prize in a short story competition organised by Berita Harian and A&W Restaurant. Currently, he is a co-scriptwriter for the hit television series, Kisah Tok Kadi.

 

Djohan A. Rahman started writing lyrics for his dikir barat group, Andika. After graduating from Universiti Malaya (Malay Studies), he intensified his writing efforts with short stories and essays. His short story, "Salah Siapa" received Hadiah Persuratan in 2001. He received Third Prize in Golden Point Award (2011) and Merit Prize in Mencari Kristal short story competition (2016). Djohan has recently launched his solo collection of short stories, Tika Aksara Menari.

 

Farihan Bahron, a graphic designer by trade, has published four books; Kail Panjang Sejengkal (2005) and Tukang Tunjuk Telunjuk (2017), both poetry collections, while Kesumat Sang Avatar (2017) and Tanjong Katong Airnya Biru (2017) featured Malay short stories. He recently received the Anugerah Harapan (Young Writer Award) at the Literary Awards (2017) from the Singapore Malay Language Council.

 

Mohamed Naguib Ngadnan has twice received the prestigious Anugerah Persuratan awards: firstly for his short story, "Satu Perjalanan" in 1999 and secondly for his poem, "Kita Yang Dijilat Gincu Peluru" in 2011. His works have been featured in various anthologies including Projek X (2001), Penawar (2017), Cukaria All-Stars (2018) and Tri (2018). Recently, his short story "Penawar" was published in Tunas Cipta magazine.
